Structure
The Somers Mens Softball League (SMSL) located in the Town of Somers, NY is under the auspices of the Somers Parks & Recreation Department.
The Somers Men’s Softball Advisory Board of Directors is the governing body. The SMSL Board members are volunteers who serve indeterminate terms. Vacancies or additional board positions are filled by a majority vote of the existing board.
Mission
Our mission is to organize and manage a recreational softball league for men, with an emphasis on enjoyment of the game and good sportsmanship.
Player Eligibility

Players must be male, eighteen (18) years or older, and meet one of the following criteria: |

(1) legally residing in the Town of Somers, NY. |
|
(2) working in the Town of Somers, NY as a full-time employee of a business or government organization with an office located in the Town of Somers, NY. Employees who work outside the Town of Somers for a business or government organization located in Somers are NOT eligible. |
|
(3) a graduate of Somers High School or other high school , legally residing in Somers with a parent or guardian who is a Somers resident. |
|
(4) a college student legally residing in Somers with a parent or guardian who is a Somers resident. |
Organization
The softball season runs from the last week in April to the end of August. Playoffs take place in September. Organization for the softball season begins in early January when team entry applications become available. The deadline for entering a team to participate in league games during the season is generally the last week in February. Scheduling of games begins the first week of March.
Teams consisting of persons meeting the player eligibility requirements may apply to participate in the league. Individuals meeting the eligibility requirements may contact the SMSL about participating. While the SMSL will make every effort to get an individual on a team, teams cannot be forced to take players. The best opportunity is to form your own team. |
